My computer cord had been acting weird for about a week. I had to hold it funny to make it charge and then one night last week it gave out. I would plug it in and nothing. At least I knew that it wasn't the converter box, but something gave at the head of the cord where it plugs into the computer. There was a part that had been bent alot and had a bump in it. I then decided today that there must be a short and I was going to strip it, but first I decided to ask Shaw (Tiffany's husband) since he grew up on a farm and she calls him mr. fixit (like my dad). He said he has done this sort of thing before and got to work using 4 different types of tape, scissors, a dull knife, and aluminum foil. It took about 4 or 5 different times, after stripping 4 wires, and a few sparks that on the last try he said that this was it: Make it or break it time! At first it didn't turn the light on but after wiggling the cord..... THE LIGHT CAME ON!

My getto fix- Success!
Yes this is china. Shaw said that he wished he would have brought a wire stripper- but of course if he had, we wouldn't have needed it. So oh well.

I say a prayer every time I turn on my computer that the cord will work when I plug it in. Sometimes I have to give it a talking to and have to make it behave, and the duck tape has melted alittle bit because it gets really hard right at the spot of surgery but it usually works. My mom sent me an email saying "Please check into going into some electronics shop there and buying a new cord. They should have something like a Best Buy, or something--after all, this is China, where everything is made! Try that to get it fixed." I'm not that worried since I only have two months left, but Tiffany said I might still look into finding a new cord here.... but we'll see :) Oh how we love China.
